Winter, 2025 has been one for the books! We've had more snow here in Stratford than any other winter I've lived here. But looking out my office window, I am happy to say: the great melt has begun! I've been keeping busy working on a new play. I can't say much about it yet, but here's a little tease: there's a reindeer in it. Keep an eye out in the coming months for the announcement of its world premiere. There are two productions of The New Canadian Curling Club on stage at the moment. One is at Magnus Theatre in Thunder Bay, and the other at Neptune Theatre in Halifax. I'm thrilled to see so many great artists working on the play, and thrilled with how these productions are being received. Over at Theatre Orangeville, Bed and Breakfast is in rehearsal. This is a reunion of the cast and director of the 2023 Lighthouse Festival Theatre production. I can't wait to see those guys perform the play again. In July, a new production of Bed and Breakfast gets a staging at the Hudson Village Theatre in Québec. In the community theatre world, a production of The Birds and the Bees hits the stage at Scarborough Theatre Guild from March 5 - 20, and Stag and Doe plays at Edmonton's Walterdale Theatre April 23 - May 3. The big regional theatres are rolling out their 25-26 seasons. I'm delighted to say that a production of Chase the Ace will play the Neptune in Spring, 2026. (Stand by for more venues and dates for that one!) And Vancouver's Arts Club Theatre Company announced its new season, including the second production (and Western Canadian Premiere) of The Golden Anniversaries. It hits the Granville Island Stage before going on a British Columbia tour.
I'm also teaching a Comedy Playwriting course through PlayMe in March and April; looking forward to diving into that, as well as some upcoming acting gigs. But for now, back to writing! Stay warm, all. Spring is on its way...
